Safety for Artists and the Environment

Educating artists about the materials they use and choosing safer alternatives is one of my passions.  My friend Jessica Carew Kraft wrote a fantastic article on this subject which you can find here:

For example, years ago I learned that I could clean my brushes with baby oil rather than paint thinner.  Granted, mineral oil isn't perfect, but its a step in the right direction.  My friend Cedar who is a talented sculptor introduced me to eco-friendly epoxy as an alternative to the toxic resins that so many artists still use:

I would like to create a conversation as artists and patrons of the arts around making our creation process safer and healthier for everyone involved.  If you have found a way to replace toxic products with something safer, please let us know and happy art making!
